Classes and Events on Hiatus Beginning 9/9/21

Dear Friends on the Spiritual Path,  as many of you know, my dear mom, Adeline Soul, embarked on the Inner Journey this past May.  Steven and I had the Blessing of attending her in her last two weeks of human life, which was a deeply intimate and sacred experience.

Since that time, our task has been to prepare Parents’ ranch for sale by clearing and cleaning it.  This is a very large and intensive task, as Parents lived at this place on the Land for over fifty years.  In consideration of this, I have decided to take a hiatus from offering classes and other events until we complete this task and have a rest.  Our thanks to all who have attended and supported our activities;  we treasure your Presence in our lives and our time together with you.

Special Zoom Event 3/21/21: Zahara Goes to India!

Dear Friends,

You are cordially invited to a Book Release event 3/21/21 with Joyce Yarrow, author of Zahara and the Lost Books of Light.  Presented by the Kalyan Center and hosted by acclaimed poet-author Dr. Santosh Bakaya, internationally-acclaimed writers, poets and musicians will share readings, poetry and music on the theme of Communal Harmony.  Steven and I will be joined by world-class musicians, Dr. Nawal Singh and Pankaj Singh for several East/West music collaborations.  We hope you will join us as we Quill a Convivencia!  This will be a public event;  you are welcome to share this poster and Zoom link with interested others.  8:00am PDT, 10:00am CDT, 11:00am EDT, 8:30pm India Time!

How a Song Became A Book

I was inspired to write Zahara and the Lost Books of Light by a song that I performed with the world music vocal ensemble Abráce.  Quando el Rey Nimrod was composed in Ladino – the language of Spain’s exiled Jews – and the lyrics tell the story of the birth of Abraham. I would often introduce the song to our audience along with a fervent wish that the world’s three Abrahamic religions will someday acknowledge their common origins and live in peace.

Zahara is based on the premise that La Convivencia – a short time in Spanish history when Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived in harmony—was not totally destroyed by the Inquisition. Instead, several thousand Hebraic and Arabic manuscripts were rescued from the million that were burned and hidden away in the foothills of the Sierra Madre.
